Joining Forces for Youth Services

Joining forces for youth services

Fulfilling the Town Council’s desire to extend youth opportunities in the Town, October saw the start of a new and exciting partnership between Littlehampton Town Council (LTC) and Arun Church (AC) marked by the launch of Arun Youth Projects, which replaces LTC's Project 82 youth facility.

The result of magnificent work carried out by Project 82 and its talented team of youth workers, the new initiative sees LTC joining forces with AC, who were already working with Project 82 in the delivery of youth sessions, with the partnership creating a more focussed approach to sessions and resources for the town’s young people.

Managing the newly improved service for an initial period of three years, AC will work closely with LTC to ensure that the needs of the youth community are being met. Continuing to deliver all the social activities previously offered, there will now be extended opportunities for young people to explore their interests and to develop life skills through accredited schemes such as the Young Leader Programmes.
Councillor Ian Buckland, Chair of the Community Resources Committee, said: "The Council is committed to providing support and opportunities for young residents and delivering a joint service with Arun Church is a positive step to achieving that aim. We are delighted that the previous youth workers were equally excited about the changes and have supported the transition. Also the young people have contributed immensely, particularly with the difficult task of choosing a new name, a job they did brilliantly."

Jon Jolly, Business Manager, Arun Church, said: "We are truly delighted to partner with the Town Council to launch Arun Youth Projects and excited about providing new opportunities for young people together. Combining the excellent work of the Project 82 team alongside our existing community youth provision in Littlehampton, Rustington and East Preston, provides a consistent service for local youths."
